It started the summer before senior year…
We actually met through mutual friends between our high schools! Both of our schools were big rivals in the Lancaster area, so there was always a fun debate on who was better: Pioneers vs. Comets. (Comets are clearly the better answer here.) However, before the Tinder, Bumble, and other dating apps; we were simply friends on Facebook and started messaging on there.
Our first date was a classic: movies + dinner.
Ever since then, our relationship has been nothing short of fun, laughter, and affection. He has honestly always been my best friend, before anything else. We both attended Slippery Rock University of PA, joined Greek Life, graduated together in 2016, and moved up to Boston that fall to start our next adventure.
My favorite thing about Tyler is going through all of life’s moments with him! We graduated high school together, were each other’s prom dates, went to college together, moved in together, and became “real adults” together. I seriously can’t wait to watch us be parents, but our puppy will do for now.
I actually had no idea he was going to propose when he did! However, we actually looked at rings for a fun five year anniversary date, I just didn’t think it would be so soon. Little did I know, he was planning on making a custom engagement ring that same day.
Tyler planned his proposal very strategically. He ensured my nails were done and that I was surrounded by family to pop champagne with. He had even planned for my cousin Tracy to be the secret photographer! At a Christmas tree farm in CT, we were joined with family and friends and took part in a tradition of tailgating prior to getting a Christmas tree. While up in the thick of the trees Tyler got down on one knee.
September 2nd 2018: The Best Day, ever.
We got married at The Farm at Eagles Ridge in Lancaster Pa. (which is basically Heaven on Earth). I actually was an intern there for the summer after getting my undergrad in Public Relations, so I was very well educated on event coordination and wedding planning. After helping numerous brides have the day of their dreams, I instantly fell in love with the rustic venue, the amazing teams, and started planning my perfect wedding onsite.
See their blog post on our special day, here!
What I loved most about our wedding was we had little personal touches to honor ourselves and both sets of parents:
- Harry Potter Cake Topper – for The Bride
- Hockey Jersey’s hanging and NHL cuff links – for The Groom
- Mom’s Antique Crystals Collection- for The Mother of The Bride
- Three Trio Jazz Band – for The Father of the Bride
- Cigar and Bourbon Station – for The Father of The Groom
- Words of Wisdom in the programs – for The Mother of The Groom
This was such a fun way to make our wedding our own, and have our family feel included in our day! As someone who loves the wedding industry, I love stumbling upon really creative and unique ideas.
Pro Tip: Brides, while Pinterest is great for inspiration, make your wedding your own! No Instagram filter or YouTube viral video can compare to what makes your wedding perfect for you and your significant other. Take each moment in, because it will seriously fly by. I do look back and there are a few things I wish I did different, but nothing compares to the smile and tears I shared with the people who watched me marry my incredible human.
Not to brag, but my wedding team was amazing. Each and every vendor made it so easy to collaborate and create our personalized vision. If you’re in the Lancaster, PA area and currently planning your special day: Check them out!
